URA has donated 360 assorted hampers to new mothers, children, and frontline hospital staff at Mulago National Referral Hospital.

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, led by Commissioner Corporate Services, Richard Kariisa, and Assistant Commissioner Human Resources, Lydia Mulondo Nsibambi, also served as a platform to appreciate the hospital’s Executive Director, Rosemary Byanyima, for her stewardship.

The delegation toured several wards, including the maternity and paediatric units, where they handed over hampers containing essential items such as baby care products, sanitary supplies, and nutritional supplements.

The Assistant Commissioner Public and Corporate Affairs, Robert Kalumba, said the gesture is part of URA’s broader commitment to give back to communities.

CCS noted that the initiative reflects URA’s core value of shared growth.

“As URA, we collect revenue to fund government programmes including healthcare and we are here to put a human face to those efforts,” Kariisa said. “These hampers are a token of our gratitude to the mothers who bring forth life, the children who represent our future, and the hospital staff who work tirelessly under immense pressure”.

Lydia Mulondo Nsibambi, the Assistant Commissioner Human Resources said, “the spirit of service we have seen here is humbling. Our healthcare workers often go without adequate recognition, yet they save lives every single day. URA appreciates you,” Mulondo said.

Receiving the donation, the Executive Director of Mulago National Referral Hospital, Rosemary Byanyima, expressed gratitude to URA for the intervention.

“Mulago handles thousands of deliveries every month, and many mothers come here with nothing. A gift like this, as simple as it may seem, restores dignity and hope. We are very grateful to the URA family for their generosity.” Byanyima said.
