Q1. Do I need a TIN to bid?

A. Yes, one needs to be registered as a taxpayer with a business or personal tax identification number

Q2. How do I bid for an item?

A. Click the Login button to login, go to Auction, click on a lot, type in an amount above the reserve price or current highest bid, click Place Bid, click Submit Bid.

Q3. Do I get a bidding account other than the TIN?

A. NO

Q4. What methods of payment do you accept?

A. Bank payments

Q6. Is there a warranty for any items purchased?

A. No, items are sold as is. However, pictures are provided to show status of the items

Q7. Do I have to pay as soon as I have completed bidding, or do I have to wait until the auction is over?

A. Auction has to be over and the system announces the highest bidder.

Q8. Are auctions only conducted at URA Head Quarters?

A. No, all customs auctions will be conducted online.

Q9. Are there back taxes to pay after purchasing items through bidding?

A. No, except for motor vehicles that have to pay registration fees.

Q10. Who is not allowed to participate in purchasing items at the auction?

A. Everyone is eligible as long as they are above 18 years of age and possessing a TIN number.

Q11. What happens if I am a foreigner and don't need a TIN?

A. Not eligible to participate.

Q12. How do I reset my TIN password?

A. Go to the URA online portal, click the plus button next to Log In, then, click on Forgot Password to reset your password.

Q13. Can I cancel my auction bid if I change my mind?

A. Yes, navigate to My Bids and click Cancel on the bid.

Q14. Does the Auction site have an online app or can I place bids using my smartPhone?

A. Yes, you can place a bid using your phone's browser

Q15. What is a reserve price?

A. It's the full taxes for the item plus other administrative costs, and any bid should not be below the calculated reserve price.

Q16. How will I know if I have won an auction?

A. You will get a system notification to your email and mobile number.

Q17. Is there a calendar showing the dates and time of the upcoming auctions?

A. All upcoming auctions are published in print media, 30 days before every scheduled auction.

Q18. How do I register a bid?

A. Log in using a TIN, navigate to the Auction page, click on a lot, type in an amount, click Place Bid. This will take you to your cart, click submit bid to confirm that you wish to place or register the bid.

Q19. How is the payment done?

A. Navigate to My Bids, for each bid you wish to pay for click PAY to generate a PRN and use the PRN slip generated to pay for your bid at the bank.

Q20. Can one use an Agent?

A. No, its only by a registered taxpayer

Q21. How can I amend my bids if I need to change some data?

A. Navigate to My Bids, click "Update" to update a bid.

Q22. What happens if I win the Auction with the highest Bid?

A. Upon closure of the auction, you shall be required to pay for your bids within 48 hours of the close of the auction.

Q23. How do I find out more information about a lot?

A. When you open a lot, click Description and Items.
