Her Royal Highness Sylvia Nagginda, the Nnabagereka of Buganda Kingdom has praised the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for its efforts in promoting tax literacy among children.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka 2025, she thanked URA for participating in the event and educating children on the importance of taxation.
The event held under the theme “Integrating our Culture with Technology,” trained over 600 children on the value of technology in human development. Nnabagereka emphasized that teaching children about taxation is crucial in building a responsible citizenry and that as they grow into business professionals, they will be aware of their civic duties including paying taxes.
URA’s participation in Ekisaakaate 2025 demonstrates its commitment to promoting tax literacy and fostering good values among children.
The authority’s Assistant Commissioner, Victoria Nabitaka Makumbi praised the initiative and affirmed URA’s commitment to participating in future events.
Other dignitaries including Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga, also attended the event and stressed the importance of training children in areas such as forgiveness, financial literacy, leadership, and cultural preservation. Ekisaakaate 2025, which ran from January 4 to 18, was a resounding success, and URA’s participation was a key aspect of its impact.
