URA recently hosted 18 students from the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada (NCCSC), who are studying the impact of customs decisions on national development.

Gwagwalada is part of the international network of customs universities and serves as a World Customs Organisation (WCO) Training Centre for West and Central Africa.

The team was welcomed by Ojambo Stephen, the Manager of the URA Tax Academy, who highlighted the strong partnership between the two institutions.

He emphasised the value of exchanging ideas for mutual learning and shared experiences.

“This visit provides a platform to discuss challenges, share solutions, and build lasting professional networks,” Ojambo said.

He also briefed the team on URA’s technology-driven strategies that have enhanced efficiency and streamlined operations.

His Excellency John Shama Shaga, Nigerian ambassador to Uganda, echoed these sentiments, noting the friendly relations between Uganda and Nigeria.

“We share a strong partnership, exemplified by the increasing exports from Uganda to Nigeria, especially in 2023,” he remarked.

The ambassador encouraged the visitors to explore Ugandan innovations in technology to improve service delivery.

Alumanah Olisaemeka Norman, the delegation’s team leader and assistant comptroller, expressed gratitude to URA for the opportunity to share knowledge. He is optimistic that the insights gained will be beneficial.

This visit highlights the importance of regional cooperation in achieving common goals and strengthening revenue administration.
