Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) informs all importers, clearing agents, and other stakeholders that, following a joint notice of Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) issued on 6^th November 2025 on measures to enhance efficiency at the Port of Mombasa, KRA has announced 100% waiver of accrued Port storage charges and Customs warehouse rent for long-stay containerized cargo.

This waiver will apply upon lodgment of a waiver application by the affected customers.
Additionally, Shipping lines have been directed to extend 100% waiver on accrued container demurrage charges.

Importers and agents are advised that primary port charges, rail freight charges, shipping line fees (Delivery Order and Terminal Handling Charges), and statutory taxes will remain payable.

URA therefore encourages all Ugandan importers and clearing agents with long-stay containers at the Port of Mombasa to take advantage of the window by liaising promptly with their shipping lines and port agents to process the necessary applications.

Please note that the waiver is effective for 30 days, from 6^th November to 6^th December 2025.
