WHO IS A PROPERTY DEVELOPER?
This is a person who buys, builds or renovates existing properties and sells them for;
- home or non-professional purposes such as single-family homes, apartments, condominiums, planned unit developments, and more.
- business purposes such as shopping malls, retail, office spaces, hotels, or other spaces used for business purposes.
- manufacturing and production/ Industrial purposes, such as factories, plants, and warehouses.
 A person may take the form of: an individual, a company, a trust, a partnership.
How do I register my business as a property developer?
All property developers in Uganda are required to be registered with;
- Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) for Company registration
- Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) for taxes
- Local council authority e.g. KCCA, municipal council, for a trading license

Please note:
Upon registration, property developers are required to comply with the requirements of statutory bodies like;
- Uganda Investment Authority (UIA)
- Ministry of lands, housing and urban development.
- National Environment Management Authority (NEMA)
