URA conducts capacity-building session with Watoto

The URA Tax Education Outreach recently organised a tax hub for the Watoto Church Ministries at Buganda Road campus. The engagement was intended to equip them with tax knowledge and practical skills necessary for fostering informed decision making and robust compliance with Uganda’s tax laws.

The session was chaired by Hafsah Seguya, the Supervisor of Tax Education, who delivered training across six thematic tax areas: Income Tax, Value Added Tax, Withholding Tax, Transfer Pricing, Tax Ledger Reconciliation, Tax Law Updates, and General Tax Return Filing.

Seguya incorporated case studies, scenario-based discussions, and practical examples specifically tailored to the operational realities of the Ministry.

Participants demonstrated a high level of involvement, actively contributing to discussions and posing insightful questions reflecting the relevance and practical value of the content delivered.

Mr. Mawadri Micheal, Finance Officer and Coordinator of Watoto, commended the trainers and thanked URA for its commitment to knowledge sharing, particularly in such critical areas of taxation.

“This session has been immensely beneficial and intellectually enriching. This support plays a pivotal role in empowering the Ministry’s team with the necessary expertise to remain compliant, informed, and responsive to evolving tax regulations and best practices,” he said.

This outreach reflects a shared commitment to promoting a culture of voluntary compliance and sound financial governance. It further demonstrates the importance of continued collaboration between regulatory institutions and faith-based organisations in advancing national development objectives.
