ROLLOUT OF THE LOCAL MARINE CARGO INSURANCE FOR ALL IMPORTS

Following the successful integration of the Uganda Electronic Single Window and the Marine Insurance Platform with the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA), the public is hereby informed that effective October 01, 2023, all importers shall be mandated to procure marine policies for their imports from locally licensed insurance companies. This measure is in accordance with Section 9 (3) of the Insurance Act, 2017 and its compliance shall be enforced at the point of imports declaration with Customs.

Please take note that marine cargo insurance can be accessed through the online payment portal; https://www.uia.co.ug/
