    • To obtain a log book, also known as a vehicle registration book, for your car from the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), you can follow these steps:

      1. Visit the nearest URA office: Locate the URA office closest to you where you can initiate the process. You can find the nearest URA office on their official website http://www.ura.go.ug or by contacting their customer service helpline.

      2. Gather the required documents: Make sure you have all the necessary documents to support your application. Generally, the following documents are required:

      a. Vehicle Importation Documents: This includes the original bill of lading, inspection report, customs clearance documents, and import duty payment receipt.

      b. Vehicle Ownership Documents: These may include the original sales agreement, certificate of purchase, or any other proof of ownership.

      c. Valid Identification: Carry your original identification documents, such as your National ID or passport, for verification purposes.

      d. Proof of Residence: Bring a document that confirms your residential address, such as a utility bill or tenancy agreement.

      e. Tax Identification Number (TIN): Ensure you have your TIN, as it is usually required for any official procedures involving URA.

      3. Meet with URA officer: Upon reaching the URA office, inform the staff that you wish to obtain a log book for your car. They will guide you through the process and provide you with any necessary forms or applications.

      4. Submit the required documents: Present the necessary documents mentioned earlier to the URA officer. They will verify and process your application.

      5. Pay any applicable fees: Depending on the specific circumstances, there may be certain fees or charges associated with obtaining a log book. The URA officer will inform you of any fees and guide you on how to make the payment.

      6. Await processing: After submitting your application and paying the required fees, you will need to wait for the URA to process your request. The processing time may vary, so it’s advisable to ask the URA officer for an estimated timeline.

      7. Collect your log book: Once your log book is ready, you will be notified by the URA office. Visit the office again and present your identification documents for verification. You will then be issued with the log book for your car.
