URA takes tax services to Nakaseke District’s Trade Show

In a true spirit of Ffebbano, URA team camped in Nakaseke District, offering tax related services to taxpayers at the Namunkekera-Liao Shen Industrial Trade Show and Bazaar, in Kapeeka.

The Trade Show, the first of its kind, brought together 21 industries from Namunkekera industrial park to showcase their products which presented URA with a valuable opportunity to interact with taxpayers.

Touring the Tujenge Bus, Former State Minister for Tourism, Kiwanda Suubi commended URA for bringing services closer to the people. “The Tujenge Mobile Office is a game changer as it reaches taxpayers in areas where URA has no physical presence and people get services and education, thus aiding compliance.”

He urged the URA team to extend the bus services to other hard to reach areas saying that it’s very essential in the dissemination of tax related information and services.

Former Minister for Privatization and Current Board Chair of UNRA Fred Omach expressed his appreciation for URA’s nationwide tax education initiatives and encouraged the team to continue engaging with communities for effective revenue mobilization.

URA Tax Expert Hafsah Seguya advised visitors on the Tujenge Bus to register their businesses and apply for a tax identification number to better interact with the taxman. “If you have any business, register it with URSB and apply for a TIN. As long as you earn income, you want to transfer a motor vehicle or land, you need a TIN to interact with URA as you pay the necessary fees and taxes,” she said.

At the Tujenge Bus, taxpayers received services including TIN registration, recovery of TINs, guidance on tax compliance and optimization, and brochures on incentives to promote business growth.

Semwanga Badru, a Boda boda rider commended URA for bringing services closer to the people through the Tujenge Bus. “I have been wanting a TIN for the last two years and I was reluctant to go to Nakaseke Town Council. On Friday, I heard that a URA bus is around and I instantly got a TIN to pay advance tax as a Boda boda rider and contribute to national development.

The Namunkekera-Liao Shen Industrial Trade Show and Bazaar, in Kapeeka aligned with URA’s mission to facilitate economic growth through tax administration and education.

URA aims to create a conducive business environment, promote compliance, and support the development of industries that include textiles, pharmaceuticals, agro-processing, and electricals.
