URA Opens Taxpayer Service Centre in Kikuubo

URA officially opened the Taxpayer Service Center for the Kikuubo business community.

The service center located in the heart of Kikuubo, will offer a range of URA services including but not limited to TIN registration, tax education, supporting taxpayers in the adoption and usage of URA tech, assistance in return filing, and resolving tax queries from traders.

Speaking at the launch on Sunday, Commissioner General Musinguzi said that URA aims to reach out and be closer to taxpayers in this area.

“We have come up with a plan to open taxpayer support centers in key areas. More importantly, we will also be able to educate and handhold them through different tax-related matters,” revealed Musinguzi.

This comes after the recent upheaval regarding the EFRIS adoption in Kikuubo that brought to light a substantial knowledge gap among the traders. This office serves as a crucial step towards closing this gap, fostering better communication and understanding of taxes.

There are plans underway to launch four similar branches in regional business areas including Gulu, Mbale, Masaka, and Mbarara.

Hajjat Nambarilwa Mariam, from Mukwano Arcade, expressed her excitement about bringing services closer to the community, she also shared that previously she had to go to Nakawa for assistance with tax-related matters, particularly guidance on filing returns, which was time-consuming.

She was elated that these services are now more accessible.
