URA wins Woman of the Future Award

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has been awarded the prestigious Woman of the Future Award for the second consecutive year, recognizing its commitment to empowering women in the workplace.

The award was presented at the Empower Her Awards ceremony, organized by Nation Media Group last Friday, where 44 organizations were in contention. URA’s victory is a testament to its dedication to creating a work environment that fosters growth, leadership and equal opportunities for women.

The journey to this achievement was not without its challenges. For years, women have faced obstacles in advancing their careers, including societal expectations, self-doubt, and the glass ceiling. However, URA chose to break the mould by investing in policies, structures, and programs that empower women to rise, thrive, and lead with confidence.

The Empower Her Initiative, now in its second edition, resonated with the theme of International Women’s Day: “Leading with Purpose: Women Driving Change for a Balanced Future.” This initiative served as a call to action, emphasizing that true leadership is about making a meaningful impact, not just occupying positions.

A highlight of the event was Robert Kabushenga’s powerful message to women, urging them to “take up space” and claim their rightful place in leadership roles.

“If there is an empty seat at the table, claim it. If there’s a voice needed in the room, let it be yours,” he emphasized

URA’s recognition with the Woman of the Future Award is also commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women to reach their full potential.
